our success story

In 2014, Matt and Eric met while working as interns together for a regional firm based in Syracuse, NY. They were eager and excited to begin their careers, but they eventually felt the frustrations of the never-ending busy seasons and the need for a better work culture. Although their paths separated, they both continued to pursue accounting with entrepreneurial spirits.

During the peak of COVID in 2021, both men saw how clients needed assistance with new tax credits, grants, and battling economic fears. They reconnected when an opportunity arose to acquire a small book of business. Eric and Matt discussed starting a small firm that focused on clients instead of the competing egos and issues found while working at bigger firms. By November of 2021, they quit their jobs and launched Dauphin & Fantacone CPAs in a small closet-like office in downtown Syracuse.

Fast-forward to today, now Dauphin & Fantacone have far surpassed their original goals from 2021. They have earned their first 7-figure year, hired employees, and opened micro-offices. They’ll continue to grow with their initial goal at heart: to bring value and exceptional service to their clients above all else.

Eric M. Dauphin, CPA

PARTNER
While Eric started his career at regional CPA firms, he began to develop a desire to help business owners build a tax strategy for themselves. Recently he has been focusing on leveraging accounting as a foundation to help businesses grow their bottom line.

His more than 10 years of experience range from corporate to personal tax, bookkeeping, payroll, software implementation and everything in between. Eric graduated from SUNY Geneseo and has his MBA in Public Accounting from SUNY Oswego.

Matthew M. Fantacone, CPA

PARTNER
Matt has an extensive background in taxation for firms of all different sizes across a wide variety of industries.

He has over 10 years of Public Accounting experience and has a unique interest in the taxation of emerging industries and technology. Matt received both his undergraduate degree and his MBA from Le Moyne College.

Kevin Kania, CPA

PARTNER
Kevin began his career in Public Accounting working in the audit department at a Big 4 Firm. He has over 9 years of experience working on audits for both public and private companies across a multitude of industries.

Kevin has also provided review and compilation services, as well as tax and business development services for his clients. He received both his undergraduate and MBA in Public Accounting from SUNY Oswego.

Sheryl Manning, CPA

AUDIT MANAGER
Sheryl is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has over 24 years of experience specializing in accounting, auditing and tax services for nonprofit organizations and small closely held businesses.

She graduated from Newbury College, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
